20 Things You Didn't Know About Layer Cake

10. Roger Ebert Gave It 3.5 (Out Of 4) Stars

Though Layer Cake was generally well-received by most critics - rocking a cool 80% approval score with a 7.03 average - one of the more prominent critics to lavish it with a rave review was none other than the world's most famous critic: the late, great Roger Ebert.

Ebert gave it 3.5/4 stars and said of the film, "The movie was directed by Matthew Vaughn, who produced Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch, and this one works better than those films because it doesn't try so hard to be clever and tries harder to be menacing."

Ebert also had high praise for Craig, adding, "Craig is fascinating here as a criminal who is very smart, and finds that it is not an advantage because while you might be able to figure out what another smart person is about to do, dumbos like the men he works for are likely to do anything."

Nailed it as always, Rog.
