20 Things You Didn't Know About Near Dark

7. James Cameron And Near Dark

Near Dark
Paramount Pictures

Kathryn Bigelow and James Cameron were married between 1989 and 1991, having met in the mid 1980s through a shared love of cinema. Coincidentally, three actors from Cameron's Aliens (1986) had read the script and signed up, with the realisation that their next gig would be something of a reunion. Lance Henriksen, Jenette Goldstein and Bill Paxton (Bishop, Vasquez and Hudson) were a readymade family, perfect for Bigelow's immortal hell-raisers.

Bigelow even gave Cameron a cameo, as a driver who flips off Severen when he tries to thumb down his next victim.

Working with Bigelow clearly had an impact on Cameron, they were married two years later, albeit briefly. He eventually married Linda Hamilton, after they met on the set of Terminator 2.
