20 Things You Didn't Know About No Country For Old Men

No Country For Old Men

Despite all the action and violence featured in the movie, No Country For Old Men ends on a rather quiet and sombre note with Sheriff Ed Tom Bell describing a couple of dreams he had the night before to his wife, Loretta.

The ending divided viewers at the time as some felt it wasn’t befitting of the chaotic journey the movie had taken them on prior. It’s also quite a vague ending with different viewers interpreting the meaning of the dream in different ways.

Some see it as Sheriff Bell preparing to meet his deceased father in some sort of spiritual afterlife, while others see at as Bell losing faith and realising there is no meaning in life.

Regardless of what side of the fence you fall on, it’s fair to say that the ambiguous ending monologue was delivered excellently by Tommy Lee Jones and is sure to leave you thinking about it after the credits roll.

But how many takes did it take to get it right?

Well according to the man himself, it was just one. Fair enough, actors don’t get paid by the hour.
