20 Things You Didn't Know About Parasite
7. The Film’s Clever Use Of VFX Imagery
In today’s cinematic landscape, it would be misguided to think that digital visual effects are only reserved for fantastical blockbusters. Nearly every modern movie employs a bit of VFX work here and there to polish things up, and Parasite is no different. Its use of the filmmaking technique is ingenious and is an excellent example of how to blend digital imagery with real-world individuals, settings and objects.
The movie’s editor, Jinmo Yang stated that Parasite has more than 400 VFX shots and these included the Park’s house, background trees, the climactic flooding sequence, and several driving scenes with Ki-Taek and Dong-ik.
The imagery (both in-camera and digitally created) comes together seamlessly and reflects a crew and director working in near-perfect synchronicity to craft a visually stunning but still grounded feature.
