Parasite did not shy away in showing how wealthy families in South Korea admire tenets of the Western world, and this can be seen in how the Kim children adopt English names to endear themselves to the Parks. Beyond their Westernized names, the Park family (specifically the youngest, Da-song) are fascinated by the culture of Indigenous communities in North America.

Of course, this interest is skin-deep and ultimately boils down to an outdated and offensive “Cowboys vs Indians” trope. Bong mentioned that the Parks’ fascination with the cultures is akin to someone wearing a Che Guevara T-shirt and not bothering to learn about the revolutionary leader’s life and ethos.

It is yet another example of the Parks’ ignorance despite having the resources to change their incorrect worldviews.
