Ian Fleming’s James Bond had a cavalier attitude to life and ate, drank, and smoked to his heart’s content as (just like Daniel Craig’s Bond) he was living on borrowed time. Despite his enviable physique, Craig’s time as Fleming’s creation has taken a physical toll on him.

During production on SPECTRE, Craig announced that it was becoming more difficult at his then-age of 47 to get fit for the role of Bond, particularly for his shirtless scenes. However, he experienced other problems during production, including one that changed his approach to a key action scene.

In each of his Bond films, he has run in pursuit of a villain and, whilst Double-0 Seven was originally meant to sprint after Marco Sciarra down Calle Tacuba towards Plaza de la Constitución (a.k.a. Zócalo) in Mexico City, Craig hurt his leg during filming, necessitating a tense walking chase instead. Meanwhile, a physiotherapist was flown in from Nottinghamshire to aid his recovery.

I started writing for WhatCulture in July 2020. I have always enjoyed reading and writing. I have contributed to several short story competitions and I have occasionally been fortunate enough to have my work published. During the COVID-19 lockdown, I also started reviewing films on my Facebook page. Numerous friends and contacts suggested that I should start my own website for reviewing films, but I wanted something a bit more diverse - and so here I am! My interests focus on film and television mainly, but I also occasionally produce articles that venture into other areas as well. In particular, I am a fan of the under appreciated sequel (of which there are many), but I also like the classics and the mainstream too.
