20 Things You Didn't Know About SPECTRE (2015)

16. “Where Are You Staying?”

Spectre Drill Torture
MGM/Columbia Pictures

Q is not a good traveller but, with Nine Eyes due to go live in mere days and M chasing him for Double-0 Seven’s whereabouts, the MI6 Quartermaster tracks James Bond to the Hoffler Clinic in the Austrian Alps through his “smart blood” creation.

He stays at The Pevsner Hotel, where Bond and Dr. Madeleine Swann visit him to discuss the sinister organisation that Double-0 Seven is investigating.

Q’s hotel is named in honour of Tom Pevsner, who was an associate producer on every Bond film from For Your Eyes Only (1981) to Licence to Kill (1989) and an executive producer on GoldenEye (1995) before retiring.

Pevsner had a very diplomatic approach and, even after retiring, he assisted the Bond team in securing a prototype BMW Z8 to be sawn in half during filming on The World Is Not Enough (1999).

He passed away in August 2014, just over a year before SPECTRE was released.

I started writing for WhatCulture in July 2020. I have always enjoyed reading and writing. I have contributed to several short story competitions and I have occasionally been fortunate enough to have my work published. During the COVID-19 lockdown, I also started reviewing films on my Facebook page. Numerous friends and contacts suggested that I should start my own website for reviewing films, but I wanted something a bit more diverse - and so here I am! My interests focus on film and television mainly, but I also occasionally produce articles that venture into other areas as well. In particular, I am a fan of the under appreciated sequel (of which there are many), but I also like the classics and the mainstream too.
