20 Things You Didn't Know About Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

8. Judith Hoag Refused To Wear The Classic April Jumpsuit

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
New Line Cinema

Director Steve Barron originally wanted to represent April O'Neil on screen as faithfully as possible, down to featuring actress Judith Hoag in the iconic, famously low-cut yellow jumpsuit from the cartoon.

Ultimately, Hoag objected to the idea, resulting it being abandoned. She later said, "They had this really horrifying white jumpsuit and dyed it yellow...It was nixed."

A mild compromise was reached, at least, as Hoag does indeed appear in a yellow raincoat at the start of the film, providing a quick tip of the hat to fans hoping to see April in her signature get-up.
