20 Things You Didn't Know About Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

18. Robin Williams Helped Judith Hoag Prepare To Play April O'Neil

When Judith Hoag won the role of esteemed reporter April O'Neil, she received help from an unexpected source - none other than late comedian Robin Williams.

Williams had worked with Hoag immediately prior on the film Cadillac Man, and when she learned she'd been cast as April, Williams, who was a huge fan of the Turtles, offered up his own comic book collection to help her prepare to play April.

Given that Hoag's performance remains the most critically praised of all the live-action Aprils, it clearly paid off.

Sadly Hoag wasn't invited back to reprise her role in the sequels, reportedly due to complaining about the film's demanding six-days-a-week production schedule, and also the amount of violence in the movie.
