20 Things You Didn't Know About The Predator
5. The Predator Filmed Two Very Fan-Service Heavy Endings That Didn't Make It To Screen
2018's The Predator received mixed reviews. Many people were hoping Shane Black, being a veteran of the original film, would be the one to properly reboot the franchise after a string of okay Predator films.
Whether you loved or hated the movie, we all saw the same ending. After our heroes dispose of the Super Predator, we see a group of scientists examining a cargo pod from the Predator ship. Upon opening, a suit of what has been called the "Predator Killer" or "Iron Predator" armour floats out, giving humanity a tool to use against future incursions on Earth.
However, two alternate endings were filmed that would have completely changed the landscape of the Aliens / Predator world. In one ending, the pod opens and Ellen Ripley, the tough, no-nonsense heroine of the Alien films, is lying in the pod with a breathing mask on her face that looks suspiciously like a Facehugger. In the other, the same scenario plays out, with the occupant of the pod being Rebecca "Newt" Jordan from Aliens. The twist is that they could both also be "Predator Killers."
While these endings would have been intriguing, they really didn't make sense. Ripley's character was last seen as a clone living several hundred years in the future and Newt's character died in Alien 3. So, unless Black was going to introduce time travel into the Predator world, the inclusions, while cool, simply didn't mesh.
