20 Things You Didn't Know About The Predator
4. Kenner Made An Incredible Line Of Predator Toys In The '90s
In the early '90s, Kenner Toys made a lot of money from popular intellectual properties - Alien, Batman, Transformers, Jurassic Park, Robocop, Terminator, and so on. Predator did not escape their grasp.
In 1994, Kenner released a line of Predator toys; with the exception of a basic Predator none had appeared in any media before. The line included Lava Planet Predator (translucent red), Stalker Predator (with armour and weapons that glowed in the dark), Spiked Tail Predator (with long dreadlocks ending in a bladed weapon), Ambush Predator (translucent), and a Predator Clan Leader (larger and more elaborate decoration, armour, and whipping dreadlocks.)
There was even the Blade Fighter, a small ship just big enough to hold a figure and covered in weapons and blades, because the '90s.
They came with detailed weapons and armour and were the same size to square them off against Aliens toys. These toys are fondly remembered, and NECA Toys, cashing in on that nostalgia, has produced several modern versions of many of the original Kenner designs.
At least two of the figures, Hive Wars Predator and Cracked Tusk Predator, proved popular enough to be included into future Dark Horse comic lines and therefore become canon to the Predator world.
Oddly enough, despite the Predators at that point being known primarily for killing and skinning a whole bunch of people in the films, Kenner made the Predators out to be the good guys in their battle against the Aliens.
