The Prestige is a very complex movie, and as you might expect, it wasn't an easy nut to crack on a story level. In fact, it took literally years to get it right.

Nolan started writing the script somewhere around 2000/2001, bringing his brother Jonathan onboard when he became wrapped up in the production of another movie, Insomina. From here, the siblings spent five years hashing out the story and bringing its many layers together, finally completing the script on 13 January 2006.

Even then, they couldn't exactly take a break, because the film went into production a mere three days later.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
