9. Schwarzenegger Was Central To The Production
After Cameron got Schwarzenegger for the film’s titular role, he never considered anyone else.
In fact, Schwarzenegger was seen by Cameron as so essential to the film, that he was okay with delaying production while Schwarzenegger went to shoot Conan The Destroyer. He never considered recasting him.
This stands as a testament to, not just Cameron’s great casting choices (the man hasn’t made a bad one in his whole career), but just how tied to the character of the Terminator Schwarzenegger is. There would be no Terminator if it weren’t for him.
