20 Things You Didn't Know About The Terminator

3. The Terminator Ate Food In The Original Treatment

Cameron’s original treatment for the film included many elements that were eventually scrapped. One of the odder aspects of this original treatment is that the T-800 needed to eat food in order to maintain the organic tissue that covers its endoskeleton.

Initially, the audience would have seen the Terminator eat a candy bar in order to sustain itself, but the scene and the whole concept was omitted from the final script.

Seemingly it was removed as it took away from the Terminator being robotic and inhuman – having Schwarzenegger scoff down a candy bar might have lessened this effect.

A version of this idea made its way into Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, but was cut after testing poorly.
