Double-0 Seven’s X-ray sunglasses serve a very practical purpose in the film, allowing him to determine who around him is armed.

He puts them to good use in Valentin Zukovsky’s Casino L’Or Noir in Baku, but an unfortunate side effect is that he can also see underneath people’s top clothes, making them one of the more voyeuristic of Bond gadgets.

In truth, the sunglasses were merely a prop and did not have such fantastic properties. To mimic Bond's vision through the sunglasses, costume designer, Lindy Hemming designed two forms of costumes for the patrons at Zukovsky's casino to wear: their top clothes and then translucent clothes showing all of the weapons that they were carrying.

he two shots were then inlaid over each other during the editing process to make it appear that Bond could see through their clothes.

Naughty, but quite clever!

I started writing for WhatCulture in July 2020. I have always enjoyed reading and writing. I have contributed to several short story competitions and I have occasionally been fortunate enough to have my work published. During the COVID-19 lockdown, I also started reviewing films on my Facebook page. Numerous friends and contacts suggested that I should start my own website for reviewing films, but I wanted something a bit more diverse - and so here I am! My interests focus on film and television mainly, but I also occasionally produce articles that venture into other areas as well. In particular, I am a fan of the under appreciated sequel (of which there are many), but I also like the classics and the mainstream too.
