20 Things You Didn't Know About Unbreakable

14. The Film Is Set In Shyamalan's Hometown

Unbreakable Movie
Buena Vista Pictures

Director M. Night Shyamalan's hometown is Philadelphia, Pennsylvania which is why the setting of the film is significant. Shyamalan has set a number of his films in his hometown including The Sixth Sense, The Happening and Lady in the Water.

Shyamalan loves to represent his hometown in his films and often the place itself acts as a character. What is also worth nothing about this film in particular is that David Dunn's place of work is a security guard at the sports stadium, Franklin Field, which is home of the football team Penn Quakers, a local Philadelphia team.
