20 Things You Probably Didn't Know About Logan

17. Familiar Faces

Logan Jerry Seinfeld
20th Century Studios

While Logan is largely devoid of references to past franchise efforts, characters and events, it still has its fair share of references to the X-Men’s various cinematic adventures and beyond.

The collapsed water where an elderly Charles Xavier resides somewhat resembles Cerebro (the light shining through the holes in the tower’s hull resembles the device’s distinct depiction of humans and mutants). In addition to serving as an allusion to one of Professor X’s most famous tools and franchise iconography, the worn-down state of the tower acts visually depicts Charles’ own fragile state.

There are also nods to older mutants serving as the genetic template for Laura’s friends, such as Chris Bradley (Bolt in X-Men: Origins) and Dominic Petros (Avalanche in X-Men: The Last Stand). Their inclusion is subtle enough to not distract from the established tone but still serve as effective worldbuilding.
