20 Things You Probably Didn't Know About Logan

16. A Bit Of Welcome Filmmaking Ingenuity

Most of the action in Logan is not as reliant on CGI as past X-Men features, but that does not mean that the filmmaking tool is completely absent.

Beyond its much discussed digital facial replacement technology, the movie used green screens to film Dafne Keen’s scenes in the casino due to the establishment’s age restrictions. In addition to green screen use, Cheramie Martin (Keen's body double) stood in for the actress when the scene was shot in an actual casino.

Wolverine’s big third act set piece (affectionately referred to as Logan’s Run by the crew) was also achieved through a blend of different stunt men and digitally-added-in gore and facial replacements. These instances are examples of how prevalent and necessary VFX work is in modern cinema despite its (unfair) reputation as a crutch.
