So determined was Ridley Scott to avoid the creature feeling like a man in a suit, that he considered every possible means by which to emphasise its inhuman horror. In fact, so much as putting a man in a suit was off the table, until he saw the 7 foot plus Bolaji Badejo in a pub one night and perceived him to be... weird enough.

When it came time to film though, Scott refused to ever shoot the creature directly facing the camera. Its humanoid features were less noticeable from certain angles and, even when it does loom directly towards the audience, it's framed so close up that the whole face is impossible to see.
