19. That Clint Eastwood Inside Joke
Early in the film, when 1955 Doc and Marty (Michael J. Fox) are prepping to travel back to 1885, Marty gets dressed into era-appropriate duds and says, "Clint Eastwood never wore anything like this," to which Doc replies, "Clint who?"
Marty then fires back "That's right, you haven't heard of him yet," given that Eastwood of course hadn't become a household name by Doc's time of 1955.
You might notice that Marty also takes a fleeting look at two of the drive-in cinema's posters, for Revenge of the Creature and Tarantula - two movies produced in 1955 and in which Eastwood had his first and fourth movie roles respectively, albeit as uncredited cameos.
It was almost another decade before Eastwood broke out with A Fistful of Dollars in 1964, but the seeds of his career were sewn with these two creature features.
