20 Things You Somehow Missed In Captain America: Civil War

13. Cap Didn't Even Try To Explain

There is an annoying trope in Hollywood where the entire narrative could have been cut much, much shorter had someone just explained what was actually going on. Misconceptions and misunderstandings can be devastating in movies, but could usually be rendered redundant with just a quick conversation.

This was certainly the case in Civil War. Steve, Sharon, and Sam had begun to piece together that Bucky was framed and had nothing to do with the bombing of the UN, but Cap made absolutely no effort to actually explain that to Iron Man.

Sure, he told his Avenging teammate that Zemo was behind everything, but there was no elaboration, no evidence, and no reason for Tony to believe him. This was just one man trying to defend his friend, right? Even when Tony told him how dangerous Bucky was, instead of disagreeing, Steve just said there were more like him.

Why not just take a moment to explain what was actually happening, instead of being far too vague for anyone to believe him? Had he just used his words, the Avengers needn’t have come to blows in Germany, and the team may never have been fractured the way they were.
