10. Jamie Foxx Had A Complicated Oscar Campaign
It goes without saying that Jamie Foxx had a phenomenal run at the 2004/2005 awards circuit for his roles in Collateral and Ray.
He garnered numerous nominations for the former and won major awards for the latter, including a Golden Globe, BAFTA and Academy Award for his role as the legendary singer/pianist.
Due to his role in Ray, Foxx had to campaign in the supporting actor category to avoid splitting Academy votes. This happened despite many viewing him as Collateral's lead. It did not help that the marketing and credits emphasized Tom Cruise as the lead actor, probably due to his larger star power at the time.
