9. Collateral Takes Place In The Same Universe As The Transporter
The shared universe as a concept may have been popularised by the MCU, but the idea of different franchises existing in the same reality has been a cinematic mainstay for decades. Projects such as the View Askewniverse and Quentin Tarantino's various flicks all have recurring elements that connect them and further expand their settings.
One unexpected shared universe is the Collateral/Transporter universe. The former film starts with Vincent receiving a briefcase from a man played by Jason Statham, who fans long suspected to be Frank Martin from the original Transporter trilogy.
This theory was confirmed as such by screenwriter Stuart Beattie during an appearance on the Collateral Confessions Podcast (via Collider), further lending credence to Transporter 2 director Louis Letterier's comments while speaking to IGN in 2005.
