20 Things You Somehow Missed In Die Hard

10. Meeting For The First Time

Throughout Die Hard, it seems as though John McClane's only ally is LAPD officer, Sergeant Al Powell, who not only backs the gutsy New York cop, but is also the only one to actually check how McClane is during his battle to save his wife and the other hostages trapped inside the building.

The majority of their camaraderie and growing friendship is restricted to discussions on a walkie-talkie before they finally meet at the end of the film, when the crisis is seemingly over.

Curiously enough, however, Bruce Willis and Reginald VelJohnson first met on the set when they were filming the closing sequence of the movie. When audiences see the characters' first meeting, including their brotherly hug, it is filled with a sense of credibility; indeed, it is not a stretch to imagine that the actors had been supporting each other from a distance throughout filming.

I started writing for WhatCulture in July 2020. I have always enjoyed reading and writing. I have contributed to several short story competitions and I have occasionally been fortunate enough to have my work published. During the COVID-19 lockdown, I also started reviewing films on my Facebook page. Numerous friends and contacts suggested that I should start my own website for reviewing films, but I wanted something a bit more diverse - and so here I am! My interests focus on film and television mainly, but I also occasionally produce articles that venture into other areas as well. In particular, I am a fan of the under appreciated sequel (of which there are many), but I also like the classics and the mainstream too.
