8. Landa Smokes The Same Pipe As Sherlock Holmes

Unless you're a big Sherlock Holmes fan, this one almost certainly passed you by. You'll probably remember that, in the opening farmhouse sequence, Hans Landa pulls out a comically oversized pipe which dwarfs the one being smoked by Monsieur LaPadite.

Aside from being a cute little sight gag, it's also worth noting that Landa is smoking a Calabash Meerschaum - the very same pipe smoked by Sherlock Holmes in many TV adaptations of Arthur Conan Doyle's books (though not actually mentioned in the books themselves).

Given that Landa is effectively working as a "detective" while investigating the LaPadite farm, it's yet another cruel joke on his part.
