20 Things You Somehow Missed In Kill Bill Volume 1

17. Planes Have Katana Holders In This Universe

Quentin Tarantino's films often suggest that they exist in a universe subtly different to her own, and one of the most interesting allusions occurs when the Bride flies from Okinawa to Tokyo to wreak bloody vengeance at the House of Blue Leaves.

We briefly see the Bride on the plane, where she's clearly been permitted to take her samurai sword onboard.

And when making her return trip at the end of the film, we get a wider shot of the plane which shows there's even bespoke sword holders next to each chair, suggesting this to be a most common occurrence on flights.

It's a hilariously bizarre flourish, to say the least.
