20 Things You Somehow Missed In Never Say Never Again

5. Inexplicable Loss Of Clothes

Bond And Domino Never Say Never Again

Double-0 Seven is known for getting out of tight spots practically unscathed. Connery himself established this in the official adventures by curtly straightening his tie after a fight or stepping out of a wetsuit to reveal a pristine (and dry) tuxedo.

Whilst Connery is portraying a slightly different Bond in Never Say Never Again, he largely retains his tried-and-tested character traits. However, one of the things that contribute to the rather peculiar feel of this film is that the older Connery (not unlike Kirk Douglas in 1977's Holocaust 2000) has absolutely no qualms about stripping off at regular intervals.

Whilst there is often a story reason for this, after Connery's Double-0 Seven rescues Domino Petachi from Palmyra and they subsequently leap off of a fortified wall together on horseback into the ocean below, Connery subsequently resurfaces from the water having lost most of his clothes...

I started writing for WhatCulture in July 2020. I have always enjoyed reading and writing. I have contributed to several short story competitions and I have occasionally been fortunate enough to have my work published. During the COVID-19 lockdown, I also started reviewing films on my Facebook page. Numerous friends and contacts suggested that I should start my own website for reviewing films, but I wanted something a bit more diverse - and so here I am! My interests focus on film and television mainly, but I also occasionally produce articles that venture into other areas as well. In particular, I am a fan of the under appreciated sequel (of which there are many), but I also like the classics and the mainstream too.
