When SPECTRE make their demands to NATO after hijacking two missiles carrying nuclear warheads, the dignitaries who are present at the briefing are outraged by the threat, in sharp contrast to the tense yet measured approach taken in 1965's Thunderball.

One of the most vocal attendees is an Italian minister played by Anglo-Italian actor, Robert Rietti. This was one of his rare onscreen film appearances, but he was actually more prominent in the film industry than he seemed. He was better known for voice dubbing other actors, although he had enjoyed noteworthy film roles in The Omen and The Italian Job, and later went on to feature in Hannibal.

One of Rietti's noteworthy jobs involved dubbing Italian actor, Adolfo Celi who portrayed Emilio Largo in the original Thunderball. Indeed, Rietti and Sean Connery are the only two actors to play a role in both films.

I started writing for WhatCulture in July 2020. I have always enjoyed reading and writing. I have contributed to several short story competitions and I have occasionally been fortunate enough to have my work published. During the COVID-19 lockdown, I also started reviewing films on my Facebook page. Numerous friends and contacts suggested that I should start my own website for reviewing films, but I wanted something a bit more diverse - and so here I am! My interests focus on film and television mainly, but I also occasionally produce articles that venture into other areas as well. In particular, I am a fan of the under appreciated sequel (of which there are many), but I also like the classics and the mainstream too.
