20 Things You Somehow Missed In Pulp Fiction

There is very little throughout Pulp Fiction that is either unaffected by other events in the movie, or doesn’t affect other events themselves. There is almost nothing that doesn’t have wider reasoning for being included, and this stretches to Vincent’s car being keyed.

While buying drugs from Lance, Vincent complains that someone damaged his car, and that it would have almost been worth them doing it just for him to catch them doing it. After this scene however, the incident is never mentioned again, leaving viewers to question, just like Vincent, who the culprit was.

Of course there have been theories, one of which has actually since been confirmed by Quentin Tarantino, which is that Butch was the man with the key in his hand. It makes perfect sense when you think about it. Just moments before, Butch and Vincent had clashed in Marsellus’ club, with only the boss calling Vincent over seemingly stopping a fist fight.

With Vincent seeming to suggest he knew that Butch was in Marsellus’ pocket and about to throw the fight, Butch’s pride was probably bruised, and so he got revenge by damaging the car Vincent cared so much about.
