2. Matthew Lillard Wasn't Supposed To Get Hit With The Phone
At the height of the film's climax, you probably remember the scene where an infuriated Billy is talking to Sidney on the phone and it ends up slipping out of his hands and hitting Stu around the head.
As much as this might suggest Billy losing his grip on the situation - and his sanity - this was actually a complete accident, albeit one which Craven decided to keep in the movie because he loved Matthew Lillard's natural, dazed reaction to the hit.
It's a small moment at the end of the day, yet one elegant enough to seem like it was always part of the plan. Not quite.
