20 Things You Somehow Missed In Solo: A Star Wars Story

While on Kessel, the whole focus of the entire mission was to heist away enough raw Coaxium to pay back Dryden Vos for the hyper fuel Han dumped to shake loose Enfys on his first mission with Tobias, Val, and Rio. However, it wouldn't have made for much of a story if it was as simple as this.

The crew, in particular Han and Lando's droid L3, essentially sparked a mini rebellion on the planet, that saw the spice-mining slaves and droids fight back and seemingly overthrow the Pyke Syndicate keeping them in chains. It was a fun sequence, and L3 (sort of) paid the ultimate price for it.

However, while that is where the story ends for Kessel in Solo, as naturally the movie follows Han and co. once they leave the planet, there were still things happening. Namely, this rebellion against the Pykes was quashed and the planet continued on pretty much as it had before, using slaves to mine spice.

This is all but confirmed in the opening story of Star Wars Rebels, a show that is set after Solo in the timeline. Ezra's first mission with the crew is to help a group of Wookie slaves escape from the Empire, but where are they being taken as slaves? That's right, Kessel. This would have been impossible had the uprising actually been successful, but instead Han and co. left the planet behind just as they left it, albeit a few vials of Coaxium lighter.
