Star Wars lost a mighty hero during the events of The Last Jedi, with Admiral Gial Ackbar shockingly being blasted out of the Raddus.
However, his legacy actually lived on in The Rise of Skywalker!
That Mon Calamari Resistance fighter seen on the heroes' Ajan Kloss base throughout Episode IX? That's none other than Gial's own flesh and blood, Aftab Ackbar, a character first seen in the Allegiance comic books.
Aftab would take on the role of Colonel within the Resistance in the wake of his father's sudden death and ended up piloting a Y-Wing when the forces of good took on Palpatine's Final Order on Exegol.
Simply put, he did his daddy proud, dammit!
