20 Things You Somehow Missed In The Prestige

11. A Little Nolan

The Prestige
Warner Bros. Pictures/Buena Vista Pictures

In one of the few happy moments in the film, Borden surprises Sarah with a new house when his magic act becomes successful.

Audiences may not realise it but, even though Christopher Nolan is famously (and understandably) guarded about his personal life, they are introduced to the director's third child, Oliver during this scene, playing the Bordens' infant daughter, Jess. Photographs even exist of Nolan's wife and frequent producing partner, Emma Thomas cradling the boy on set.

Nolan and Thomas now have four children together and, in some ways, shooting the majority of The Prestige in the Los Angeles area must have been a pleasant experience for them as it meant that they could return to their own home each night after the day's filming was completed.

I started writing for WhatCulture in July 2020. I have always enjoyed reading and writing. I have contributed to several short story competitions and I have occasionally been fortunate enough to have my work published. During the COVID-19 lockdown, I also started reviewing films on my Facebook page. Numerous friends and contacts suggested that I should start my own website for reviewing films, but I wanted something a bit more diverse - and so here I am! My interests focus on film and television mainly, but I also occasionally produce articles that venture into other areas as well. In particular, I am a fan of the under appreciated sequel (of which there are many), but I also like the classics and the mainstream too.
