20 Things You Somehow Missed In The Truman Show

4. Paul Giamatti Starts Looking For Work When Truman Gets Suspicious

Paul Giamatti has a small but memorable role in the film as Simeon, the control room director of The Truman Show, and one of the few behind-the-scenes crew members to show remorse for Truman, especially when Christof nearly drowns him at the end of the movie.

But there's one telling shot after Truman's suspicions begin to crystalise: we see Simeon reading the classified section in the newspaper, suggesting he thinks Truman's not too far away from discovering the truth, and is already preparing to bail from a job which won't exist without its star.

As much as Simeon might be a small character, it's fantastic that the film lends so much blink-and-you'll-miss-it character development to even its peripheral players.
