After Donnie disrespects Brad's wife, the two get into a heated argument, concluding with Brad knocking Donnie to the ground with one clean right hook.

While filming, the actor depicting Brad, Jon Bernthal, threw a fake punch at his co-star, Jonah Hill, which Martin Scorsese was unsatisfied with. After several takes, the director told the actor to thump Hill for real.

Considering Bernthal boxes in his spare time, Hill was terrified of being pummelled in the face. But after they filmed the shot, Hill admitted it was one of his favourite scenes he ever acted in.

However, the shot cuts immediately after Bernthal belts his co-star since Hill's prosthetic teeth got knocked out of his mouth.
