20 Things You Somehow Missed In X-Men

19. Hugh Jackman's Physique Changes Between Scenes

X-Men Wolverine
Fox

Going back and revisiting the original X-Men, it's fascinating to see how modest Hugh Jackman's physique is as Wolverine compared to his later contributions to the franchise.

He still looks great, for sure, but touts a physique that seems decidedly more achievable to the average Joe.

This was largely a result of the fact that Jackman was hired incredibly late in production, being cast to replace Dougray Scott when principal photography had already been taking place for three weeks.

Not only did this not give Jackman the opportunity to become jacked (man), but it also meant that his build fluctuates noticeably between scenes.

For those scenes which were filmed earlier in the shoot - such as when Logan wakes up in the X-Mansion - he looks considerably less vascular than in, say, the opening cage fight introduction.

Jackman worked out extensively during filming, meaning that by the end of the shoot, he was markedly more chiselled than when he started.

Thankfully things were much better organised for the sequels, allowing Jackman time to get in the desired shape before cameras started rolling.
