20 Underappreciated Blockbusters That Are Much Better Than You Remember

9. Die Hard 4.0

Don't get me wrong, Die Hard 4.0 is an awful Die Hard movie that forgets everything that made the character of John McClane a cinematic icon in the first place besides his penchant for one-liners and a dirty vest. However, as a star-powered action blockbuster its a massively entertaining and sorely underrated entry in the genre.

McClane is no longer an everyman cop but an indestructible superhero that drives cars directly into helicopters and takes down fighter jets single-handedly, which is a fundamental misunderstanding of the character on almost every level but look at all the explosions!

However, while the movie completely ignores the rules of the franchise it does offer a series of exciting, well-staged and increasingly escalating action sequences that knowingly verges awfully close to full-blown absurdity and fully embraces it. Unlike A Good Day To Die Hard, which is just sh*t.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
