20 Upcoming Horror Movies That Might Surprise You

4. Saw XI

Saw fans have been riding quite the emotional rollercoaster in recent years, because while Saw X unexpectedly proved to be one of the series' best-ever - and certainly best-reviewed - entries, a planned Saw XI didn't come together as planned.

Due to producer disagreements behind the scenes, development on the sequel stalled in 2025 and it was soon enough cancelled outright.

But in mid-2025, it was announced that Blumhouse had bought a stake in the Saw franchise, with their priority being to get Saw XI up and running as soon as possible, with co-creator James Wan being creatively involved for the first time since Saw III.

That alone is enough to be intrigued by Saw XI despite its developmental issues, and with Wan recently teasing that the new film will hearken back to the tense atmosphere of the original, it could very well end up that rarest of things - an eleventh entry into a horror franchise actually worth a damn. Here's hoping.
