20 Upcoming Movie Sequels That Could Be HUGE Improvements

Now we're admittedly stretching the definition of the word "sequel" here, but the new Anaconda movie is certainly tough to quantify.

Something of a soft reboot for the horror franchise, this new film is effectively a meta-legacy-sequel to the original 1997 Jennifer Lopez-starring one, with Jack Black and Paul Rudd playing a pair of pals who head into the Amazon rainforest to remake their favourite childhood movie, Anaconda.

The rub? Once they start shooting a real giant anaconda shows up and all hell breaks loose.

The Tropic Thunder route is certainly a delightfully unhinged angle for a new Anaconda movie, and considering the original film is more of a trashy guilty pleasure than a genuinely good romp in its own right, there's a lot of potential here for this quasi-sequel to better it.

After all it's co-written and directed by Tom Gormican, who did a fabulous job with The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent a few years ago, so don't be surprised if this new Anaconda movie few people were asking for actually breathes fresh life into the dubious franchise.
