20 Upcoming Movie Sequels That Need To End Their Franchises

10. Rambo: Last Blood

The Franchise: Sylvester Stallone's iconic action film series which began as a critique of the Vietnam War and eventually just ended up as a bunch of brainless shoot 'em up flicks. Despite their R-rating, the movies have pulled in $727.8 million to date. Sequel Status: Despite 2008's Rambo being easily the lowest-grossing film of the series, Stallone is returning to write, direct, produce and star in the fifth film, in which Rambo goes up against a Mexican cartel, and Sly has likened the tone to the Coen Brothers' Best Picture-winning classc No Country for Old Men. Though a release date isn't set yet, Stallone's schedule isn't too busy right now, so he could probably slot this one in pretty soon. Why It Needs To Be The Last One: Well, for starters, the title sounds rather definite and conclusive. Plus, if filming doesn't start until next summer, then Sly will be 70 years old, which is really pushing the series' credibility, even if the role draws attention to his age (as it probably should). The fourth movie was surprisingly decent and actually gave the character a pretty solid send-off, so hopefully this one won't completely butcher that. How Likely Is It?: As Stallone looks to be bringing things to a close just as he did with Rocky by taking on all major creative duties himself, it's tough to imagine him making another film when he's even older in a few more years. 9/10.
