20 Upcoming Movie Sequels That Need To End Their Franchises
8. Resident Evil: The Final Chapter
The Franchise: Paul W.S. Anderson's highly inaccurate but undeniably successful adaptation of the classic survival horror video game series, which despite universally negative reviews for all five of its movies, has raked in an astonishing $915.9 million worldwide. Sequel Status: The sixth and purportedly final film starts shooting this Summer, with Milla Jovovich and Li Bingbing set to reprise their roles as Alice and Ada Wong. Anderson will be directing once again, and of course, it's in 3D. The release date is penciled in for September 2nd, 2016. Why It Needs To Be The Last One: Because despite how much money it makes, the series really, really blows, and does a total disservice to its video game namesake (which admittedly isn't in great shape at the moment either). How Likely Is It?: It'll be the last one, technically speaking, but there will almost certainly be a reboot of some sort within a decade of this "final" film releasing. So, 8/10, kinda?
