20 Upcoming Movie Sequels That Need To End Their Franchises
18. Die Hardest (AKA Old Habits Die Hard)
The Franchise: The iconic action film franchise starring Bruce Willis as grizzled everyman cop John McClane, who has to pull himself and various family members out of scrapes with maniacal terrorists time and time again. Combined worldwide grosses are $1.43 billion. Sequel Status: Bruce Willis has confirmed a sixth Die Hard movie numerous times, though with the pic still in early pre-production stages, don't expect a release until at least 2017. Why It Needs To Be The Last One: Because the series has had a pretty damn good run to date, with four good-to-great movies and then one terrible effort in 2013's A Good Day to Die Hard. It didn't really feel like Willis' heart was in it anymore and he was just coasting for a fat paycheck, so why disappoint fans by churning out more lazy, pointless sequels? How Likely Is It?: Even before the fifth film started shooting, Willis professed a desire to make the sixth film the last, but given that he said that A Good Day to Die Hard was going to be the best one, it's not like his word means much. Willis would be around 65 before a seventh film could realistically get made, which just sounds like a terrible idea, and there's actually a decent chance both Fox and Willis will realise this. 7/10.
