17. Ted 2
The Franchise: The (mis)adventures of John Bennett (Mark Wahlberg) and the anthropomorphic, foul-mouted, pot-smoking teddy bear he wished to come to life as a kid. The original 2012 movie grossed a huge $549.4 million and ensured a sequel, while Flash Gordon himself, Sam J. Jones, has claimed that a third film is also on the cards already. Sequel Status: Ted 2 hits cinemas June 26th, and the trailer pretty much suggests more of the same. The expanded cast (including Morgan Freeman, Liam Neeson and David Hasselhoff) is certainly interesting, though it remains to be seen if Seth MacFarlane can bottle lightning twice in a row. Why It Needs To Be The Last One: It's just not really a concept that lends itself to a franchise. The conflict in the first movie was resolved, but now it's all been upended simply so MacFarlane can try to print Universal some more money. Even if the movie somehow works the second time, a third time really feels like MacFarlane is over-playing the gag, just like he does so often on Family Guy. How Likely Is It?: The box office has the final say here. Even if Ted 2 only grosses 2/3 of what the previous film did, that would almost certainly be enough to justify a sequel considering the relatively low budget of these movies, and seeing how audiences seem to love the character, don't expect this to be the end of him. 4/10.
