20 Upcoming Movie Sequels That Need To End Their Franchises
16. Clerks III
The Franchise: Kevin Smith's hit indie comedy series about two store clerk slackers, Dante (Brian O'Halloran) and Randall (Jeff Anderson), as they try to make sense of their lives while dealing with douchebag customers and various other colourful characters, such as Jay (Jason Mewes) and Silent Bob (Kevin Smith). Sequel Status: Smith will be shooting Mallrats 2 later this year and aims to jump on Clerks III in early 2016, though that date could easily slide to later on in the year. Why It Needs To Be The Last One: Smith did very well not to butcher the classic original with 2006's Clerks II, and it'd be pretty impressive if he managed to do it again. Even so, like the American Pie movies, there's only so many times a series can return to these characters without things ending up stale, so best to go out with some dignity rather than run them into the ground. How Likely Is It?: Pretty likely, actually. This could be the finale which ties everything off while giving fans the nostalgic comfort they've been craving. 7/10.
