14. Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension
The Franchise: The series that helped popularise the found footage genre, releasing four core movies and one spin-off title to date, grossing a total of $811.6 million, on a ridiculously small combined budget of $18 million. That's some profit margin. Sequel Status: Despite stalling numerous times, the fifth core movie, The Ghost Dimension, is set for release on October 23rd, and will apparently answer every nagging question the series has posed so far. Why It Needs To Be The Last One: Because the only truly good movie is the original one, and if The Ghost Dimension truly does answer all the questions, then there's not really much of a direction left for it to go. Paranormal Activity 4 grossed significantly less than the first three movies, so it seems like audiences are starting to lose interest, and it doesn't help that this is the first core movie in 3 years, a lengthy time gap for the series. How Likely Is It?: There's a good chance the movie won't do all that well at the box office, but you can bet your bottom dollar it'll be left open enough to make another movie regardless. Plus, they're so cheap to make that profits are practically guaranteed anyway. If it drops out of cinemas, a straight-to-video future is definitely possibly. This series isn't done yet either way. 3/10.
