20 Upcoming Movie Sequels That Need To End Their Franchises
13. Ice Age 5
The Franchise: Fox's animated movie series about a gang of mammals trying to survive the Paleolithic ice age. Despite a relatively inconsistent critical reception, the four films have grossed $2.8 billion so far. Sequel Status: Though little is known about it plot-wise, a July 15, 2016 has been set for the fifth movie, with Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Denis Leary, and Chris Wedge expected to return to voice Manny, Sid, Diego and Scrat respectively. Why It Needs To Be The Last One: 2012's Continental Drift did a fine job hammering home the themes of family and giving all the characters cutesy happy endings, so what's really left to do for a fifth movie, let alone a sixth? Just collect that final $800+ million box office pay-day for part five and let the series rest in peace. How Likely Is It?: Unless Ice Age 5 is a total bust or the entire main voice cast somehow all dies, it's virtually impossible. 1/10.
