Even though the most recent Insidious film, Insidious: The Red Door, was the highest-grossing in the franchise, the general critical and fan response was wildly mixed, with many missing the presence of Lin Shaye's iconic medium Elise Rainier, who is without question the series' fan favourite character.
Elise appeared in only a throwaway cameo in The Red Door, though in a classic case of giving the audience what they want, it was recently confirmed that Shaye will be reprising her role of Elise as one of the main characters in the now-shooting sixth movie.
It speaks to how much audiences love Shaye's performance that they want Elise in these movies no matter that she died at the end of the first film, but between supernatural hooey and the endless possibility of prequels, there's always a way to get her back in the fray.
