20 Upcoming Movies That Made INSANE Casting Choices

Jim Carrey has enjoyed something of a career rejuvenation over the last few years per his electrifying performance as Dr. Robotnik in the Sonic the Hedgehog films, but he's next set to play a perhaps even less-expected pop-culture mainstay - George freakin' Jetson.

Carrey is in talks to play the lead character in a live-action adaptation of legendary animated sci-fi sitcom The Jetsons, with Colin Trevorrow (Safety Not Guaranteed, Jurassic World) tapped to both write and direct.

If we ignore the somewhat puzzling prospect of trying to make The Jetsons relevant again in 2026, Carrey's casting is certain a left-field choice. 

Despite his indisputable comedic chops and apparently boundless energy, he doesn't seem like a natural fit for George at all, not to mention at 64 years of age he's considerably older than George appears to be in the cartoon.

Granted it wouldn't surprise anyone if this movie never actually goes before cameras with or without Carrey, but at present it's tough to square this oddball casting away.
