20 Upcoming Movies That Made INSANE Casting Choices
16. Matthew Lillard - Stu Macher (Scream 7)
The Scream fanbase did a collective spit-take when Matthew Lillard was confirmed to be appearing in Scream 7.
After all, Lillard played one of the first film's two antagonists, Stu Macher, who was very unambiguously killed by Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) at the end when she dropped a TV on his head.
Though there's been a vocal movement of Stu "truthers" campaigning for him to return to the franchise - having apparently forgotten how heavy CRT TVs are - Lillard is indeed making a return one way or another.
But it goes without saying that bringing Stu back from the dead would be a decisive jumping-the-shark moment for a franchise that's been skating on thin logical ice for a while now.
And so, the far more likely truth is that the new Ghostface will be using AI tech to mess with Sidney, showing her glimpses of her dead tormentors. Or it's possible that Stu will show up in a flashback sequence with digital de-aging tech.
Given that two other dead characters - David Arquette's Dewey and Scott Foley's Roman Bridger - are also confirmed to return, it seems incredibly unlikely that we're getting a trio of resurrections.
Still, whatever the explanation, it's sure going to be a wild sight to behold.
