20 Upcoming Movies That Might Be Surprisingly Good
10. Mutiny
While most of his compatriots have long since been confined to the straight-to-streaming action film jail, it's impressive that Jason Statham continues to produce action thrillers for the theatrical marketplace, and that most of them tend to perform relatively well at the box office.
In August, The Stath will star in Mutiny as an ex-Special Forces operative who is framed for the murder of his Thai billionaire friend, causing him to unravel an international conspiracy while fighting to clear his name.
And sure, it sounds like basically every other Statham action flick from the past decade - less fun than The Beekeeper, and more in line with last year's disappointingly bland Working Man.
But Mutiny is being directed by Jean-François Richet, who has a pretty solid filmography to date, including 2005's remake of Assault on Precinct 13, Mesrine, Blood Father, and most recently the shockingly entertaining Plane.
With Plane in particular, Richet delivered a fun time with a totally piecemeal concept, and to sweeten the deal one of Plane's co-writers, J. P. Davis, also helped write Mutiny.
You might have low expectations for this one, but don't be totally shocked if it's actually a terrifically efficient romp that delivers the Dad Movie goods.
